Grocery Retailer #2

Be careful what you wish for, you may be severely disappointed.
I was asked to provide a synopsis or like a Top 10 list of changes to make at certain grocery store.

I worked there, so it wasn’t really hard work, but effort involved and subsequent non events that followed has really tightened down my parameters for working with new clients.

Obviously any new challenge is fun and exciting as this project was. As always I learned a lot about this particular location and more on the industry as a whole in the process. So for that, I’ll give myself maybe an 8 or so for effort and intensity brought to the party.

Duration – roughly 4 months off and on. Trying out different sale names, price points and such. The client simply wanted like a top 10 list, so I didn’t get bogged down with nitty gritty or create any templates for re use.

Receivables – a top 10 list in order of effectiveness. Figures cited could well add 50k yearly to bottom line without doing much of anything different and NO additional add spending. 6 pages of notes clarifying and justifying the list. Also included to books on Sales, both by Paco Underhill.

Results – Ahemmm, clearing my throat… lol The result was CRICKETS! I checked back about 6 months later, the 2 books are still in the same place on the counter, obviously unread. Non of the list items has been implemented.

This was a case of me trying to be a nice guy and helping out.
Not to say that I won’t ever do that type of project again. But I have Really narrowed my scope.

If you’re NOT going to become a Difference Maker, I won’t help you market it! Capice? Good!
